Individual therapy session as part of our partial hospitalization program in New Jersey

What is A Partial Hospitalization Program for Rehab?

A partial hospitalization program (PHP) is an outpatient alcohol and drug rehab option that provides consistent support and day treatment while allowing you to return home every day to be with family or take care of life obligations. At our NJ drug rehab, the PHP program is also referred to as a Partial Care Program (PC), and it involves participation at our recovery center every day of the week. Our partial hospitalization program in New Jersey offers an effective and measurable system of treatment that addresses the complex needs of individuals struggling with substance abuse. Our dedication and commitment to help individuals and families sets us apart from other accredited treatment facilities.

When Is a PHP Treatment Program Appropriate?

PHP treatment can be a good choice in a number of circumstances, though every person’s road to recovery is unique. By working with admissions counselors who truly care about your well-being and you as an individual, you can understand what substance abuse treatment programs might be the best for you at this particular intersection in your journey to a cleaner, more sober lifestyle.

Sometimes when partial hospitalization for addiction and mental health disorders may be recommended, include:

  • Upon discharge from an inpatient or residential treatment program where you lived at the treatment facility 24 hours a day. Stepping out of such programs and directly into daily life without any interim support can be daunting and isn’t always recommended. That’s why numerous step-down short term treatment options are available, including PHP. With partial hospitalization, you’re able to return to the controlled, safe treatment environment each day for a slower and more careful integration into your new normal.
  • When inpatient treatment or residential rehab is not deemed necessary. In some cases, you (and any referring provider, such as a therapist or physician) may not feel like 24-hour supervision and residential treatment services are necessary. This might be the case if severe withdrawal symptoms that affect your physical health and the need for medical detox aren’t present or if you simply don’t need the level of care offered in residential rehab.
  • When you’ve experienced a minor relapse. Intensive outpatient programs, including PHP, could be an option if you have relapsed with inconsistent or one-time drug use and want to ensure you don’t fall back into the cycle of addiction.

What to Expect From a Partial Care/PHP Program for Addiction and Mental Health

Our Partial Care Program involves spending several hours every day at the facility. During that time, you engage with individual and group counseling to continue to identify triggers and root causes for your addiction and develop coping skills for dealing with stress and cravings. You also listen to, talk to and receive support from others, including professionals and fellow individuals on their own roads to recovery from substance use.

During your time in the PC program, you might also participate in creative and recreational group therapy programs designed to increase your interest in healthy coping mechanisms, build additional confidence and help you work through other issues. Support group programs include options such as music therapy or art therapy.
